Getting your YU-card is quick and easy.  After you enroll in courses, visit the YU-card Office to have your photo taken.  You'll receive your card on the spot!  To avoid long line-ups in September, submit your photo online and come pick it up on campus this summer. To visit campus this summer you can either book a tour through YUSTART, your Faculty, or come explore campus on your own!  *Please see exceptions below.

What do I need to bring?

  • Your York U student number
  • To apply for or pickup your YU-card, you must bring one of the following pieces of government-issued photo identification. If you do not possess any ID issued by a Canadian federal, provincial or territorial government, you must present a passport.
      • Driver’s licence
      • Photo Health Card
      • Ontario Photo Card
      • Permanent Resident Card
      • Certificate of Indian Status
      • Passport

*Note all documents must be valid and original (no copies/photos)

Distance Education

Students enrolled in on-campus courses or residing in the Greater Toronto Area are normally expected to visit the YU-card Office during business hours to obtain a card. Students who are enrolled in only Internet, correspondence, or off-campus courses; or graduate students residing outside of the Greater Toronto Area and enrolled in no on-campus courses; may request a YU-card by mail. The YU-card will not bear a photo and will require that you present valid photo ID should you wish to use the card. Requests should be submitted to A valid student number and mailing address must be included in the request. Please allow up to 10 business days for your card to be produced and mailed.
